Relationship with my reader
The relationship with my reader is almost like a crush, as expressed in Billy Collins's "The Flight of the Reader." Every time I write with the idea of an audience or a reader in mind, I always aim to impress. It is almost as if with my writing I am trying to make my crush have a crush on me back. Depending on the type of writing that I am doing, my goal with my "crush" varies. Often times I attempt to sway the reader to feel the same way as I do, other times I just aim to let them know how I feel about a certain issue; but I am always trying to make the reader feel that my thoughts and writings are worth spending time with. Maybe I even try to make the reader think that I am something worth spending time with because of what I write about and how I express it. In any case, I see the reader as someone whose time I am taking, not the other way around. I should be so lucky that someone is reading my works and therefore, I do not wish to disappoint.
